Showcasing our thriving local maritime sector!

Jacqueline Foster MEP attends the third annual Mersey Maritime Industry Awards

Jacqueline Foster MEP, Conservative Spokesman on Transport and Tourism in the European Parliament, was the guest speaker at the annual Mersey Maritime Industry Awards on Thursday 9th March 2017.  Now it its third year, the event saw over four hundred guests attend what has become a significant event in the UK's maritime industry calendar.

Commenting, Jacqueline said:

"It was fabulous to attend the Mersey Maritime Industry Awards last night in the impressive surroundings of Liverpool Football Club. Once again this event showcased our thriving local maritime sector with a proud history and a dynamic future ahead of it. Well done to all the finalists and huge congratulations to the fantastic winners.

"The theme of the 2017 awards was 'Liverpool is Back' - and we certainly are! There has been global coverage of the launch of Liverpool2; the christening by the Princess Royal of Atlantic Container Line's Atlantic Sea; and the Cammell Laird keel-laying ceremony for the RRS Sir David Attenborough, the UK's new £200m polar research ship. The maritime industry is thriving locally and it was fantastic to be able to celebrate many achievements with those who are making it happen!"
