The European Parliament's Intergroup on the Welfare and Conservation of Animals has received the "Parliamentarian of the Month" award from Cruelty Free International. The MEPs of the Intergroup were granted the award for their efforts in favour of the resolution supporting a global ban on cosmetics testing on animals which was adopted by the Parliament at the beginning of May.
As Vice President of the Intergroup, Jacqueline Foster MEP said:
"That this outdated, cruel and unnecessary practice still happens is an outrage in 2018. We need to end it everywhere and forever. The Parliament's vote is a great step in the right direction.
I am delighted that my colleagues in the Intergroup have been recognised in this way. The award is a recognition of our actions to advance this issue in the Parliament and to make it a priority for the European institutions. We must continue to keep up the pressure and make the ban a reality."
