A great day for the British aerospace industry

Airlines in the Gulf have placed a number of high-value plane orders on the first day of the Dubai Air Show, with great news for the British aersopace industry in general, and the North West in particular. Jacqueline Foster MEP, Vice President of the Sky & Space Parliamentary Intergroup, welcomed the news: "There are thousands of families across the North West and Wales who will rejoice at this news. "As well as the fantastic workforce at Airbus, we know there are many hundreds of small and medium sized companies also dependent on the success of Airbus in the supply chain."  

North West Conservative candidates selected

The Conservative Party in the North West has picked its eight candidates for the European Parliamentary Elections in May 2014. Its follows a party ballot of Conservative Party members to rank candidates for the region - which comprises Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside.  Jacqueline Foster MEP topped the ballot.

Big boost for British car industry

Following the news of a £1 billion investment in the car industry, North West Conservative MEP Jacqueline Foster met with Martin Cray, Plant Director at Ellesmere Port's Vauxhall car plant.

Jacqueline visits Cumbria's Lakes Line

Jacqueline met with members of Cumbria's Lakes Line Community Rail Partnership on Saturday.  This followed the decision by the Conservative-led Government to agree to a feasibility study on the electrification of the line.

Great news for the North West as first flight of world's newest aircraft

Today has seen the maiden flight of the Airbus A350 XWB aircraft. North West MEP and Conservative Transport Spokesman, Jacqueline Foster, attended the opening of the A350 wing facility at Broughton in 2011 by Prime Minister David Cameron and was also invited to this morning's maiden flight, which took place from Toulouse, France.

More good news for British motor industry

The first Jaguar F-TYPE customer cars left Jaguar Land Rover this week. The all new sportscar has resulted in contracts worth £2.8 billion being placed with companies internationally, with more than £1.5 billion placed with companies in the UK. Contracts have been awarded to more than 270 companies globally following the completion of a global competitive tendering exercise on component sourcing for the vehicle. Of these, 116 are based in the UK.

Foster welcomes views of North West employers

North West Conservative MEP, Jacqueline Foster, has welcomed the views of businesses across the North West and backed their calls for lower taxes and less red tape on job creation.  Jacqueline was speaking after the Knutsford-based Forum of Private Business contacted her to share the views of their members.

The cost of living is one of the top issues as voters across Lancashire and Cumbria are set to have their say in the County Elections on Thursday 2nd May.  Jacqueline was speaking after knocking on doors of voters in Pendle.
