Making our roads safer

North West MEP and Conservative Spokesman on Transport & Tourism, Jacqueline Foster MEP, today backed new rules on lorry design to make Britain's roads safer for pedestrians and cyclists.

Caravans and small garages have been saved from the threat of further EU interference after a strong campaign by Conservative MEPs. Today (Tuesday), MEPs successfully side-lined over-zealous road safety Regulations which would have subjected caravans and light trailers to a cumbersome and intrusive inspection regime.

The new Deputy Leader of the Conservative MEPs and North West MEP Jacqueline Foster has welcomed a landmark vote to scrap the EU Parliament in Strasbourg.  The 'second' Parliament is estimated to cost taxpayers a staggering £928 million.

Stop the killing of Romanian stray dogs

North West MEP Jacqueline Foster has condemned the ongoing killing of stray dogs by the Romanian Government. Jacqueline, who is Vice President of the Animal Welfare Parliamentary Intergroup, has written to all 33 Romanian MEPs and Commissioner Dacian Ciolos, as well as the country's President, Traian Basescu, calling for an immediate halt to the killing of stray dogs, often using barbaric and inhumane methods.

Good news for e-cig users following action by Conservative MEPs

Millions of e-cig users have breathed a sigh of relief this week, following a vote in the European Parliament not to classify electronic cigarettes as 'medicinal products'.  Conservative MEPs tabled amendments to the EU Commission's 'Tobacco Products Directive' which will mean the increasingly popular alternative to harmful tobacco will not be taken off the shelves.
