9 Sept: Conservative Transport Spokesman wins support over Gibraltar vote

Jacqueline Foster and the Conservative MEPs have won the backing of fellow parliamentarians for deleting a needless reference to Gibraltar in a report on EU transport policy. A section of the report on the implementation of the Commission's 2011 White Paper on transport called for the EU's Council of Ministers to "resolve the UK-Spain dispute over Gibraltar, which is currently impeding numerous legislative files". However in Strasbourg today, MEPs voted to delete this statement. 

No megatrucks on UK roads after Conservatives secure exemption

There will be no 'mega-trucks' on Britain's roads thanks to decisive action by the Conservative Transport Spokesman in the European Parliament, Jacqueline Foster MEP.

The European Commission had wanted to harmonise the rules over the size of trucks across the EU, which had the potential to see 80-foot long trucks appearing on UK roads, weighing up to 60 tonnes.

North West MEP backs British Farming

North West MEP Jacqueline Foster was among the first MEPs to sign the pledge to 'Back British Farming' this week.  The Pledge, organised by the National Farmers Union,  seeks to improve the food supply, ensure decisions are based on scientific evidence and reform the bloated, wasteful 'Common Agricultural Policy'.

EU will come to regret Juncker appointment, warns PM

There has been strong backing following David Cameron's attempts to block the appointment of Jean-Claude Juncker as next President of the European Commission.  North West MEP, and Deputy Leader of the Conservative MEPs, Jacqueline Foster was speaking after today's meeting of European leaders, when the Prime Minister argued that the favoured candidate of many European leaders was the wrong person for the job.
